During the summer months, you are likely to see a multitude of occasions being celebrated in front of the camera. Weddings, prom, family pictures, senior pictures, engagement photos, etc. If you are lucky, you may just find yourself in the background of someone’s special photo.
The Plummer House is a beautiful facility that was given to the Rochester Park and Recreation Department in 1972. They were commissioned to be caretakers and to preserve this historical landmark. The property began construction in 1917 and was finished in 1924. The Plummer House has an abundance of character and has sustained its beauty through the years. This is an English Tudor Mansion which is quite uncommon in the midwest and is truly a sight to see. On the property you will find an aesthetically appealing house with limestone siding and slate roofing, beautifully maintained gardens and lawn, mature trees, a quarry, and lots of natural character. If you ever have the privilege of entering inside of the home for an event, you will without a doubt experience the “wow factor.” Plenty of original woodwork, beautiful historic furnishings, and a grand staircase with a family photo, which, from many angles in the room, feels like Dr. Plummer’s eyes follow you.
The property is maintained by the Rochester Park and Recreation Department and therefore the grounds can be visited during city park hours. The home is a facility that can be rented and is a great venue for weddings, meetings, receptions, reunions, and small parties.
On a personal note, Chris once held a surprise party for his wife’s golden 30th birthday. He rented the facility through Rochester Park and Rec then invited many of his wife’s friends to a black tie event. Everyone brought fancy finger foods to share and had wine from local winery, Four Daughters Winery and Vineyard. It was a night that was not quickly forgotten.
